{"id":142,"date":"2014-10-21T21:41:19","date_gmt":"2014-10-21T21:41:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/global-gals.com\/?p=142"},"modified":"2014-10-21T21:41:19","modified_gmt":"2014-10-21T21:41:19","slug":"sandag-bike-plan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/global-gals.com\/?p=142","title":{"rendered":"SANDAG Bike Plan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t10\/9\/2014<\/p>\n<p>Thank you to our guest speaker, Mr. Chris Kluth, from SANDAG. \u00a0He spoke with us about the Regional Bike Plan Early Action Program. \u00a0Below are my notes that I took during his presentation.<\/p>\n<p>First of all, SANDAG is the San Diego Associate of Governments which is a State agency with\u00a0local jurisdiction. \u00a0They coordinate big projects such as highways, railways, cycling.<\/p>\n<p>Adopted Bike Plan in 2010.\u00a0 2013 got an early action program:\u00a0 $200 million.\u00a0 Largest and only one in the country dedicated bike program. \u00a0A Local sales tax\u00a0of a\u00a0\u00bd cent goes SANDAG, some of that tax money pays for the Bike Plan.<\/p>\n<p>The plan includes 42 projects and 77 miles.<\/p>\n<p>Priority projects:\u00a0 bike path up to North county and East county.\u00a0 Coast to Crest Trail out to Santee.\u00a0 On street urban projects.\u00a0 Everyday trips.\u00a0 Little connections within the community.<\/p>\n<p>Economic development impacts on the plus side.\u00a0 Local businesses and property values see an increase. \u00a0SANDAG talks to council districts \u2013 SANDAG brings money.\u00a0 It\u2019s a project, not a plan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cParklet\u201d\u00a0 now a place to sit.\u00a0 Take out parking spaces for sitting. \u00a0Looking to incorporate green area and protected bike lane. \u00a0Projects improve safety. \u201cLow stress\u201d greenway, take bikers off the busy street.\u00a0 Signage and outreach campaign to show how to get off the busy streets.\u00a0 Focused on \u201cinterested but concerned\u201d bike riders.\u00a0 Biggest potential.<\/p>\n<p>North Park \u2013 Mid City has 10 schools on 12 miles of bicycle boulevard and cycle track.\u00a0\u00a0 (i.e. Meade, Orange, Landis).\u00a0 \u201cTraffic calming\u201d around school zones.\u00a0 Timing of completing project: construction at the end of 2015.\u00a0 Property values go up at least 8% along bike boulevards and near bike paths.<\/p>\n<p>Have a plan, get input form community (i.e. North Park Planning Committee), go through City input.\u00a0 SANDAG has a different set of rules to follow.\u00a0 Have strategies to deal with community disagreement.<\/p>\n<p>Uptown Project:\u00a0 controversial.\u00a0 Transforming Hillcrest.\u00a0 Has separate cycle tracks, traffic calming, and bike boulevards.\u00a0 Studying traffic flow on University from 6<sup>th<\/sup> to Normal.<\/p>\n<p>City of San Diego painted green bike\u00a0lanes to indicate a conflict zone where bikes and cars cross paths.<\/p>\n<p>Ciclosdias, November 9, Sunday 10-3:00.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ciclosdias.com\/\">www.ciclosdias.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>**The Park Blvd bus project was not a SANDAG project. **<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;\t\t<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>10\/9\/2014 Thank you to our guest speaker, Mr. Chris Kluth, from SANDAG. \u00a0He spoke with us about the Regional Bike&hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[3,8],"tags":[22,68,71],"class_list":["post-142","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-ggg","category-san-diego-2","tag-chris-kluth","tag-san-diego-bike","tag-sandag"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"http:\/\/global-gals.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/142","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"http:\/\/global-gals.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"http:\/\/global-gals.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/global-gals.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/global-gals.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=142"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"http:\/\/global-gals.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/142\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"http:\/\/global-gals.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=142"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/global-gals.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=142"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/global-gals.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=142"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
